Grid check

Enter your spare capacity and how your vehicles are used. You see right away whether the depot can charge them overnight, and how many vehicles it can take with load management.

Fits your connection

It fits with load management

Charging all at once would go over your spare capacity. Shared across the hours the vehicles are parked, it stays under it, and every vehicle is still full by departure.

27 with load management
Without it
5 at full power

Each vehicle needs about 26 kWh a day, including charging losses.

FAQ

Questions about the grid check

How do I find my spare grid capacity?

Take the power your connection allows and subtract the highest load the site already draws during the hours your vehicles are parked. If your site has an RLM meter, your energy supplier or grid operator can send you the 15-minute load profile, which shows this. If you are unsure, start with a rough number and change it later.

How does the check work?

It models one working day in 15-minute steps, the same way our fleet calculator does. "All at once" means every vehicle charges at full charger power from the moment it plugs in. "With load management" means each vehicle gets the same energy, spread evenly across the time it is parked. Energy per vehicle is the daily distance times typical consumption for the vehicle type, plus 10% charging losses.

What if the result says it does not fit?

There are usually options before a grid upgrade: charging some vehicles at another site or at drivers’ homes, longer parking times, or a battery. A grid upgrade can take months, so it is worth checking early. Send us your numbers and we will look at them with you.

Does §14a EnWG change the result?

On a low-voltage connection, the grid operator may reduce the power of new chargers in a grid emergency, in return for lower grid fees. That rarely affects overnight depot charging, but it is one more reason to have load management in place.
